Plant plays

Plant-floor routes planned around actual South African operating weeks.

Floor paths under Plant plays

Plant plays is where Oric maps the week, not the catalogue gloss. Each play sets out the real constraint, the first floor check, and an email subject a plant team can actually track. We would rather back one floor plan that holds through a live shift than list five ideas that only work in a meeting room.

How briefs arrive without theatre

When you write through our contact form, use the play name as the subject line. Add one photo of the area, even if it was taken quickly on shift.

Check the consignment twice before it leaves the supplier. Separate the rush order from the weekly plan so the floor does not inherit yesterday’s panic.

Enquiries from our Isando desk

From our Isando plant, we still take walk-ins when a demo helps more than another PDF. Cape Town plants often need export timing.

Bloemfontein plants often need a different moisture routine from coastal sites, so tell us which environment you are working in. We keep the wording straightforward and the checklist easy to print for the floor team.

Questions about Plant Plays? Send your city, job timing, and two photos of the constraint through the contact form if you have them. We respond from our Isando desk during ordinary business hours.

Isando plant brief intake

Start with the constraint that keeps tripping the shift, not the full site history. Include where the bay sits, what moves through it, and whether wash-down, dust, forklifts or export packing affect the area. One quick photo from the operator view usually shows more than a long written summary.

Starter Floor

A starting layout for a new production floor, built for South African plants that need clear movement, safe zones and room to train operators.

Scale Up

A growth route for floors that are adding volume, with South African shift patterns, staging pressure and tighter stock movement in mind.

Education Cell

A cell layout for training and learning areas on South African factory floors, where flow, supervision and repeatable practice all matter.

Export Line

Plants packing for export often need the route checked against staging space, wrap points and container cut-off timing. In Cape Town, that usually means noting where packed stock waits before loading and which step causes bunching near dispatch. Add any labelling or customs hold point that interrupts movement.

Retail Bay

A floor path for retail-facing bays in South Africa, where access, replenishment and customer-safe movement need to work together.

Warehouse Loop

Some Plant plays are built for stores loops where pallets, pick faces and returns keep crossing the same area. In those cases we mark where stock pauses, where empty packaging collects, and where cleaners need a clear hand-off between zones. The useful brief is not a long story but a photo of the aisle, the peak traffic period, and whether forklifts and pedestrians share the route.

Coastal Site

A floor route for coastal plants in South Africa, taking salt air, moisture, cleaning cycles and corrosion risk into account.

Highveld Site

A plant path for Highveld sites, built around dry dust, temperature swings and the day-to-day realities of inland operations.

Overnight Run

Night production needs a different play from the day run because fewer people carry more checks across the plant. Mark dim sections, handover boards, battery charging spots and any point where maintenance work shares the same route. If the area gets wet or dusty after hours, include that in the first note.

Demo Path

A practical demo layout for South African plants, so trial runs, walk-throughs and product checks can happen without blocking the floor.

Service First

A service-led floor path for South African sites that need easier maintenance access, cleaner call-outs and less disruption around equipment.

Training First

A training-led route for South African floors, giving new operators a clear sequence, safer movement and less guesswork around the cell.

Spares Ready

A spares-ready layout for South African plants, with parts access, technician movement and storage points placed where breakdowns actually happen.

Audit Week

A floor plan for audit week on South African sites, helping teams tidy flow, label clearly and show the line as it really runs.

Handoff Pack

A handover-focused route for South African floors, so the next shift, contractor or site team receives a layout they can follow properly.

Multi Site

A coordinated floor path for multi-site operations in South Africa, keeping movement rules and layout logic aligned across more than one plant.
