Install Checklist
An install checklist covering substrate prep, moisture, access, sequencing and site conditions before industrial floor work starts.
How the Install Checklist runs on a plant week
Install Checklist covers the site conditions that should be confirmed before industrial floor work begins. It runs through substrate preparation, moisture, access, sequencing and other basics that affect the job.
Start with the substrate type, shutdown window and any site condition that could affect installation on the day. Highveld dust, coastal moisture, load-shedding and dispatch pressure all influence prep, curing, access and handover checks. We write these notes for working plants in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and regional sites where clear pre-start information matters.
Add current photos before grinding, patching, washing, or breaking out any damaged sections. Include notes on cracks, old coatings, drummy areas, previous repairs, and any spots where water stands after cleaning. That record helps the site team compare what was found at first inspection with what is uncovered once prep starts.
Checks before site entry
A useful Install Checklist sets out what must be confirmed before labour, materials, and equipment are booked onto the job. It should cover substrate readiness, moisture status, electrical supply, ventilation, access routes, waste handling, and the order in which adjacent trades will work. Clear early checks reduce stoppages caused by blocked bays, wet concrete, or incomplete builder's work.
Send the Install Checklist through the contact form with site photos, programme dates, and short notes on moisture, surface prep, damage, or failed earlier repairs. If different areas on the property are in different condition, list them separately so the review matches the actual work zones. Include any restrictions around production, hygiene, heavy traffic, or after-hours access.
- Moisture readings for each work zone
- Photos of cracks, repairs, and edges
- Related: Systems, Plant plays, and Floor notes
- Access windows and shutdown dates listed
Site conditions that affect prep
Older industrial sites often carry contamination that is not obvious in the first walk-through. Oil in the slab, weak toppings, laitance, hidden hollows, and patch repairs from previous outages need to be noted before a specification is confirmed. Where drainage falls or washdown areas are involved, the checklist should also record how water moves across the surface during normal operation.
In Durban and other coastal areas, humidity can influence moisture testing and curing conditions during installation planning. Gauteng sites may present dry dust, heavy forklift movement, and tight production programmes that limit preparation time. If load-shedding, generator use, or restricted plant stoppages affect the work sequence, note that clearly in the checklist.

What to include with photos
Share the install checklist with floor photos, programme dates, and notes on prep, moisture, damage or earlier repairs that did not hold. Keep the subject line direct.

Mark each image with the bay name, building area, or grid reference used on site. Add short notes on when the photo was taken, what defect it shows, and whether that section is still live for production. A well-marked checklist is easier to match against the programme and the final install sequence.
